I've seen photos of that black #56 floating around The Google for some while now.
I did some digging and found out they're from the 1955 Liège-Rome-Liège. The Merc won the rally; it was driven by Willy Mairesse and Willy Genin.
I'd post the sources, but Kinja won't let me do that. One of them is the Italian Wiki page for the rally, so you should be able to google that if you want to.
